SLOUGH LIONS CLUB |
| Slough Lions Club are a Charity Organisation - the Local branch of the International Association of Lions Clubs. The Club was formed in 1970 to serve the Local Community of Slough. We are a small group of men and women whose aim is to raise money for a variety of needs and to carry out community service. Every Penny we raise from the Public is used in welfare projects. None of it is taken up in Club Administration costs. Usually our main meeting is arranged for the last Thursday evening of the month at the Manor Hotel, Datchet and an additional meeting for fund-raising/activity planning is held on the 2nd Wednesday at Sara Lee Sports and Social Club, Bath Road, Slough, or The Toby Inn, Langley. We also have occasional Social outings or Dinner Evenings. We are looking to expand our membership and Visitors are always made more that welcome at our meetings. Please contact the Secretary Lynden McIntyre (01753-543903) for precise meeting venue/date & details. What do the Slough Lions Do?Our Welfare and Community events range from organising parties or theatre trips for the elderly and the lonely; sending needy families on holiday; helping the disabled and the blind and deaf. We assist with Meals on Wheels during Christmas/New Year period and carry out a Christmas Collection in order to make Xmas Parcels. We run Trivia Quizzes, Swimarathons, Golf Tournaments, Sponsored Walks, Tombolas, Raffles, Fundays, Combined Charities Fayres and Fetes, Line Dancing Evenings and Barbeques in order to raise funds. Who have we helped in the past? Our main project has been raising funds for equipment for Wexham Park Hospital Prostate Cancer Research, but we have also supported Wexham Park Hospital Children's Ward / Heart Unit / Prostate Cancer/Kidney Unit.
