Message from the District Governor 2009/10
Greetings my Fellow Lions,
It is a very great privilege, honour and indeed responsibility to serve as District Governor for 2009-2010 and I thank all of you who have put their trust in me.
I do believe that 105D is an excellent District with a very proud history of service but I am sure that we can do even better to improve the lot of those less fortunate than ourselves in the District, The Multiple District and the wider world. My particular interests are Sight, Diabetes Awareness and Youth and I would urge all clubs to support these activities.
My theme for the year will be "Working Together to Serve our Communities". I hope that we will all work together in many ways - at club level, within Zones, supporting District projects, supporting International projects and working with other service organisations - and in so doing we will serve our communities both locally and further afield. I also hope that you will enjoy yourselves, both in providing service and in attending social events.
Our International President for this year is Eberhard Wirfs from Germany and his theme is "Move to Grow". He will be encouraging Districts to take action to grow in humanitarian service, leader development, club membership, international social understanding, Leo Clubs, cultural activities and LCIF support. In 105D we already have a good base to work from and we will Move to Grow during the next year.
I cannot run the District on my own and I would thank all those Lions who have agreed to be part of the District team and I know we will work together well. We have many specialist officer Lions on the District Cabinet and they are available to provide help and advice to clubs. I also have the full support of my husband Lion John who will be accompanying me on my various visits around the District. I thank him for this support for without it I would not be able to undertake this exacting role.
I am very much looking forward to the next twelve months. Please invite me to some of your events and, if possible, I will attend and help as required. I do look forward to meeting as many of you as possible and finding out more about the great work that you all do to live up to our motto "We Serve".
Good luck to everyone who has accepted office for the coming year whether it be at Club, District or Multiple District. You can be assured that I will be giving 100 per cent effort to making this District an even better one by the end of my term of office.
