Lion Harry Purchase MJF

Windsor Lions Club is deeply saddened to report the death of Lion Harry on Sunday 13th November aged 84 years – he served the club for over 41 years.
Harry received a Melvyn Jones Fellowship and undertook almost every official role in Windsor Lions including Club President on three occasions as well as working hard on both the Activities and Social Welfare committees for many years.
Harry was a unique, larger than life character, full of fun but with a sharp eye for business and always driven by the need to help others. He will be deeply missed.

Lion Margaret Hoare

It is with great sadness I have to report the passing of Lion Margaret Hoare. Margaret a member of Sandown and Shanklin Lions Club for many years, passed away peacefully in hospital at the age of 91, on Monday evening at 6:30pm and is now with her beloved husband Lion Joe Hoare.
Margaret was the mother of Lion Ann Twining, Zone 3G Chairman.
The Funeral will take place at St Pauls Church, Regent Street, Shanklin PO37 7AW at 12 noon on Wednesday 19th October This will be followed by refreshments at the Falcon pub, also in Regent street just across from the church, at about 1pm.The cremation will be held on the same day at 3pm at the I O W Crematorium.

Weymouth and Portland Lions Club, sadly report the passing of Lion Colin in September 2016. He joined the club in January 1989 and amongst other club positions was President in 1995/6. He was a committed Lion who was active in the club to the very end. Our thoughts go out to his wife, Kathleen.

Wimborne & Ferndown Lions Club sadly report the passing of Lion John Wilson (75) in June 2016.
He joined the Club in May 1971 and amongst other Club positions, was President in 1977/8 and 1999/2000.
He was a committed Lion who continued to support the Club up to the final end.

Lion Bob Ashenden

It is with great sadness that I have to inform you that Lion Bob Ashenden MJF passed away yesterday evening the 10th March 2016, just short of his 90th birthday.
Lion Bob was a Charter Member of Sandown and Shanklin Lions Club. He was responsible for building our Day and Community Centre, which is now in its 30th year. In honour of his work in Lionism, he was made a privileged member last year.
Bob's wife Daphne joined the club when ladies were allowed to join. Over the years they both did sterling work for the club and were both made MJF some years ago. Bob will be sadly missed by all the members of his club.
The funeral of Lion Bob will take place at 11:30am on Wednesday 6th April 2016 at the Sandown Methodist Church, York Road, Sandown, I.O.W. PO36 8ET

I'm sorry to have to pass on the news that Lion Derek Moore has died after a long illness. Our sympathies to his wife Audrey.
A Memorial Service will take place at 1:45pm on Thursday the 3rd of March at Holy Angels Church, Lilliput Road, Lilliput, Poole BH14 8JX. The service will be followed by afternoon tea in the Church Hall.
This will be a Memorial Service celebrating Derek's life. A private cremation (family only) will have taken place earlier.
Because it is a celebration of Derek's life, Audrey has requested that we do not wear black ties or sombre clothes.
The family have requested that there be no flowers, but there will be a retiring collection in aid of the Church Organ Fund.

It is with the greatest regret that I must advise you that our last remaining Charter Member passed away yesterday, 6th February in Frimley Park hospital at the age of 94.
Reg had spent many years with us tirelessly campaigning and fund raising for others who were less fortunate than ourselves. He was awarded The Melvyn Jones Fellowship for his work with our club.
He leaves a wife, Doris, who looked after him in his latter years and a niece, Phyllis, who visited him every week. We shall all miss his smile, his willingness to listen to those less experienced and wisdom in matters concerning the well being of our Club.
Reg's funeral will take place at Park Crematorium, Guildford Road, Aldershot GU12 4BP at 1:30pm on Monday 29th February.
Doris has asked that only flowers from the immediate family should be sent for the funeral, but any donations should be sent to the NSPCC in his name.

Lion David Side
Lions Club of Basingstoke
The Lions Club of Basingstoke has sadly had to say farewell to Dr David Side, who passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, 4th February.
David was a much loved and respected pillar of society - supporting the local community through his work as a doctor, and through Probus and the Lions Club. David was President of the Lions Club several times over and was one of the founding members of the Basingstoke Lions Club, his membership spanning 48 years.
We will miss his warmth, wisdom and wit. Our thoughts are with his wife Margaret and their family.
David's funeral will be at 2:45pm on Friday 19th of February at Basingstoke Crematorium, Manor Farm, Stockbridge Road, North Waltham RG25 2BA.

It is with the greatest sadness that Solent Lions Club and Lion President Louise Crook have to inform you of the passing to higher service, this morning, of past President Lion Polly Stansbridge.
Polly fell peacefully asleep this morning after a long and dignified battle against cancer. She will be badly missed by the club as a past president, Lion Tamer and Fundraising Chair.
A cremation service will take place on Wednesday 20th Jan 2016 at 2:00pm at the East Chapel, Southampton Crematorium, Bassett Green Road, Southampton SO16 3QB.
